Edmund Sander established his company as a blacksmith and a machine builder in 1904. With the following era of motorization and the development in the automotive industry he transformed his business together with his son Paul Sander into a car garage.

Forklifts and conveyer technique was much in need. Thus he specialized in the service market of this technical area. He maintained forklifts from the former Soviet Union and almost from the whole German Democratic Republic. The forklifts were on a short supply and therefore the expenditure on the repairs and maintenance very high. Due to the state-directed economy the continuation of his company was difficult and always walking a tightrope. Although qualified staff was needed, the conditions for entrepreneurial spirit was very restricted and declined by the state.

Shortly after the reunification Sander was convinced, if a family business survived the Empire, the Weimar Republic, the Nazi period and socialism, then will be able to face the free market economy.

After Roland Sander just finished his training as a car mechanic, he started studying business management and took over the family enterprise as managing director in 1992.

In the early ’90s the business from Chemnitz made a contract with Linde AG, Germany’s market leader in conveyor technique. It turned out to be the right decision and it since it has lead us in the right direction to stronger success. Based on this the business decided to invest in its future. The new company building was opened in Friedrich-Oskar-Schimmel street in Chemnitz business park, in 1995. At this time the company had 44 members of staff.

Sander applied then and still does now the same business strategy - a good combination of experience and business drive. In addition to experienced long term employees the company invested also in the training of young staff for successful economic activity. In the last few years 22 trainees qualified successfully in their profession as car mechanics, electricians specialised in cars, car mechanics with engineering background and office staff. Today Sander counts just over 80 members of staff.

Working with Linde AG, the company found not only a fair and understanding business partner but Linde AG also supported the business from Saxony in many ways. The experience of the last decade shows that this form of business cooperation creates a good base for its own business development.

Sander is especially proud of its Linde-supplier reward, received twice for the best customer service, in 2000 and 2004. As a matter of fact all members of staff are very happy about this special recognition which was assessed through votes from customers and business partners.

For the company this success is very important in order to continue putting the customer and his requirements right in the center of all efforts.
